In honor of Women’s History Month – and in celebration of Muslim Women’s Day – the Capital Area Muslim Bar Association (CAMBA) is excited to invite you to join us on our day of service this Sunday, March 17, 2019! Our volunteers will be preparing dinner for the women and children at House of Ruth, a homeless shelter in Washington, D.C.
When House of Ruth first opened in 1976, it was the only shelter dedicated to serving women and their children. Since then it has grown to continue meeting the needs of the community: House of Ruth now serves over 1,000 women and children a year, offers free domestic violence services, and provides a nationally-accredited developmental day care center for infants and toddlers. Come help us support their great work by preparing and serving dinner to the residents this Sunday, March 17, 2019 (details below). We look forward to seeing you then!
Where: House of Ruth, in the H Street corridor, NE Washington, DC (for security reasons, exact address will be provided after RSVP’ing)
When: Sunday, March 17, 2019, from 2:45pm – 5:30pm (volunteers must show up by 2:45pm and commit to the entire shift)
What: We will be doing dinner service for ~30 women and children at the shelter! Volunteers will help with food preparation, meal service, and clean-up. Please note that House of Ruth requests that all volunteers be adults (no children allowed).
RSVP: Volunteer spots are on a first-come first-serve basis and fill up quickly! To register, please visit here.
Donate: If you are unable to make it to the service event but still want to help support House of Ruth, please consider making a tax-deductible donation through CAMBA's Facebook page, or directly at https://houseofruth.org/donate-now/.
Thanks for your support – we look forward to seeing you then!
