FIRESIDE CHAT WITH RAHMAH A. ABDULALEEM, ESQ.

In celebration of Women's History Month, please join CAMBA on Thursday, March 31st for a conversation with KARAMAH's Executive Director Rahmah A. Abdulaleem on gender equity in Islam and KARAMAH’s great work empowering Muslim women around the globe, including their recent involvement with the Muslim World League (MWL) and the Charter of Makkah. Come learn about KARAMAH's work to get women empowerment as one of the top focus areas in the 2022 MWL conference on this Charter, and KARAMAH's continuing programs and publications promoting Islamic scholarship from a non-patriarchal perspective.

Inspired by the Quranic verse, “We have given dignity (karamah) to the Children of Adam.” (Qur’an 17:70), KARAMAH: Muslim Women Lawyers for Human Rights strives to afford every person an opportunity to reach their full potential and to treat each other with respect and compassion.

As KARAMAH’s Executive Director, Ms. Abdulaleem works to create a global network of advocates knowledgeable on the gender equitable foundations of Islam, who work to advance the cause of Muslim women’s rights in legal and social environments.

Ms. Abdulaleem is a proud graduate of the Philadelphia High School for Girls. She went on to Duke University where she graduated with a double major in Religion and Sociology and a certificate in Markets & Management Studies. Ms. Abdulaleem obtained her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School and worked at a top international corporate law firm for 14 years before joining KARAMAH.

We are so honored to have Ms. Abdulaleem with us and look forward to seeing you next week on March 31, 2022! Be sure to register for the free event today!
