It is increasingly important for lawyers to be informed about legal rights that may impact those in their communities. Please join the Capital Area Muslim Bar Association (CAMBA) as we host a Pro Bono Week training with Sirine Shebaya, Senior Staff Attorney at Muslim Advocates to cover the basic case law and principles governing federal officials' authority to search and question at the border. Special attention will be given to developing standards around the search of electronic devices, as well as questioning about religious or political beliefs and affiliations. We will cover the basic constitutional principles, case law, and recent developments, as well as a list of best practices and key principles you can use in answering questions or giving Know Your Rights sessions within your community.
Special thanks to Arent Fox for hosting!
