Immigration law is rapidly changing. Recent immigration actions have affected scores of people. Lawyers are quickly rising to the occasion and protecting the rights of those affected. Please join CAMBA as we host a training with Saba Ahmed and Azadeh Erfani, Staff Attorneys at the Capital Area Immigrants' Rights (CAIRCoalition, to learn the basics of immigration law and how lawyers can help protect immigrants’ legal rights. Hassan Ahmad, Managing Attorney at the HMA Law Firm and CAMBA board member, will also share his experience being on the frontlines at Dulles Airport.

The CAIR Coalition is a nonprofit organization that provides free legal services to immigrants at risk of detention and deportation in DC, Maryland, and Virginia. CAIR Coalition works with pro bono partners in the DMV area to represent adults and children who are detained and in deportation proceedings. Immigration 101 with the CAIR Coalition will consist of a short Know Your Rights presentation with respect to immigration enforcement, a basic overview of immigration law and detention, and a discussion of how attorneys in our community can engage with detained immigrants through pro bono representation and other volunteer opportunities.

Please register by February 28th.

Special thanks to Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP for hosting this event.
